I saw a young Florida Panther a few months ago darting across the road in my neighborhood. The Sandhill cranes, the grey fox, opossums, bald eagles, red tailed hawks, osprey, egrets, herds of deer and caracaras visit quite often and an armadillo has taken residence in my yard. It makes me sad knowing that the 2700 acres behind my home facing east, will eventually become 6579 side by side houses, commercial, office and retail space and named 3H Ranch. This project will border Skye Ranch which is 1000 acres now under development with 1200 houses. Next to 3H Ranch and Skye Ranch will be Hi Hat ranch where 10,000 acres will be developed with 13,00 houses.
The 426 acres on the north side of my home, is the home of a pack of coyotes, it will be developed into Strazzera Village with 1021 houses and commercial space. On my south there is Grand Park where 600 acres is under development with 900 homes.
This is what is happening to Florida’s beautiful natural environment and wild kingdom.
The greed of real estate developers is intensifying.

RCA Building on Broadway in Albany, New York

In 1958 the iconic Nipper was places on top of this 110 year old building and remained to this day. He is 28 feet tall and sculpted out of fiberglass. Currently this building stands empty. As a child, growing up in Albany, the dog Nipper had always fascinated me and to this day I’ve wanted to paint him as a memento to happy memories.

“Tribute” is a celebration of two of my favorite art forms — jazz and theater — and the iconic neighborhoods where each of these vital cultural genres have come to life for more than a century: Harlem and Broadway. Even though they’re a few miles apart, Harlem and Broadway have an unbreakable connection in shaping and influencing the uniquely American art forms of jazz and the Broadway musical. When I think of Harlem I think of the iconic Apollo Theater and jazz royalty:

Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday and Charlie Parker (represented as a blue jay).

When I think of Broadway, I envision the shimmering lights that both dazzle and lure us into the storied theaters where thousands of gifted actors and musicians create magical moments that excite us and create the memories of a lifetime.
